WH-Question Comprehension Test

This test examines comprehension of subject and object extracted ASL Wh-questions using Avrutin & Hickok’s paradigm: Subjects are presented with short vignettes that involve three characters, say, two dogs and a cat where the first dog is chasing the cat who, in turn is chasing the second dog. The subject is then asked either “which dog is chasing the cat” or “which dog is the cat chasing”; the subject responds simply by pointing to the correct character. These probes provide yet another construction with a different surface form while sharing critical syntactic properties.
